About Andrea
Hi, I’m Andrea Bates, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina.
I graduated from Fordham University School of Social Services in 2003, and obtained my LCSW in NC in 2009. I have been practicing in Maine since 2023.
I have worked with clients of all ages. I began my clinical career working with children (4-18) and families in an on-site clinic, while more recently offering support to adults (18-89) via telehealth. This has been my primary method of therapy for over a decade, and I truly appreciate being able to provide that type of support to you in the comfort of your own space.
As a therapist I have experience working with clients managing various concerns. These range from anxiety and stress management to an exploration of depression symptoms and causes; support in processing emotions surrounding grief and loss; addressing your difficulties focusing and any attention-related issues; helping you manage your chronic illness or pain; supporting new, hopeful, and expectant parents with fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum anxieties; parenting concerns; relationship problems; and offering an ear and a course of action to manage work-related struggles and stressors. If you’re worried I don’t have experience with what is troubling you – please reach out and I’m happy to explore this further.

I’m here to provide you with a welcoming, non-judgmental space to discuss what matters most to you.
I view my role as your therapist as being your supporter, your cheerleader if you need one, and as providing a safe space for you to feel welcomed and unconditionally accepted. I will meet you where you are, while ensuring I challenge you to explore your motivations as we work together to process and understand your choices.
I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, and welcome clients of all genders, races, and religions. Therapy is a place for you to share your concerns, your stressors, and your needs. Only you can identify what those are, and in doing so my hope is that you’ll share them with me. Then I’ll be there to help you figure out what direction you want our sessions to go.
Regardless of what you are struggling with, I hope you’ll reach out so we can work together to develop a course of action to ensure your needs are addressed and your goals are met. I look forward to hearing from you.
A space to feel understood and supported.
Stress and anxiety can impact us in many unexpected ways. Have you found yourself up late at night, unable to fall asleep because you can’t pause your thoughts? Maybe it takes extra effort to get out of bed in the mornings? I understand.
Have you started to notice you’ve been snapping at your spouse more often? Maybe have very little patience for your kids on a regular basis? Struggling with the early days of parenting and absolutely unable to ‘sleep when the baby sleeps’? You’re absolutely not alone.
Right now many people are finding themselves torn between wanting to stay informed with all that is happening in the world while also maintaining some semblance of joy and positive distraction. I’d love to help you find that balance.
Let’s start the conversation.
I’m here to listen when you’re ready to begin.
